| About Us! Carla Mae, our three girls, and I (Yup! I'd be well outnumbered, if it weren't for the tom cats) currently make our home in Clarksville, Arkansas, where I have spent about all of my life and profession. I am a life-long, now semi-retired small market broadcaster. My dad brought KLYR Radio in Clarksville to the airwaves in 1957, less than a year after he and my mom brought ME into the world. So I have literally spent my entire life at the same small market radio station where I began my career. Therefore, I know, by experience, how difficult (and expensive) it can be to maintain a full staff of announcers on a small radio budget. On the other hand, I know how very important it is to provide a "varied assortment" of fresh voices for a (hopefully) heavy commercial load throughout the programming day! Throughout my life as radio station owner-manager-salesman-bookkeeper-janitor-etc., all-in-one, I constantly sought ways to get more voices on my station like the bigger stations had...without spending the amount of money the bigger stations had. It seemed, however, that even the cheapest Voiceover companies were charging 50 to 100 dollars...OR MORE...for just a simple 30 second commercial. Certainly, it was great that these voiceover artists were also very capable of providing big city production...complete with big city background music, big city sound effects, etc. And if a guy had the money, his radio station could sound exactly like the big city stations in Nashville, Los Angeles, New York, and elsewhere!
